Turkish officers Lieutenant Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces Mehmet Nihat Bey (BURSALI) and Lieutenant Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces Ömer Zeki Bey (ÇOBANOĞLU), who participated in the Balkan War, World War I, and the War of Independence, were shot and killed by a gendarmerie soldier conducting a road check while returning from duty on the night of July 14, 1928. This monument was erected by the İzmir Fortified Area Command and renovated in 1973 by the İs. School and EM Command. The remains of the martyred officers are in Kokluca Cemetery.
