Tire Monument
About
Its other name is Gökçen Liberation Monument. It was built in 1935 in memory of our soldiers who fell in the War of Independence. The Gökçen Liberation Monument is located within Kurtuluş Park in the Gökçen district of Tire. The monument was commissioned by the Gökçen Municipality, but today the municipality is part of Tire and has become a town. The inscription on one side of the monument reads "The Liberation of Gökçen, September 4, 1922." On the other side, it reads "Memorial of Batur Gökçen and his friends who fought in the National War, 1935." On the third side, it reads "The Great Victory, August 30, 1922."
